Executive Board: Vice Chair / Chair-Elect
This individual is elected to the Executive Board for three years, serving as Vice Chair/Chair-elect, then Chair, and finally Past Chair. The three-year term allows the individual to prepare to take over as Chair and then to assure continuity in the succeeding year's board.
General Responsibilities.
This individual:
- Serves as a member of the TS-SIS Executive Board.
- Chairs the Education Committee.
- Works with the Chair to oversee the operation of the section, including being consulted on decisions affecting the section.
- Attends the business meeting and both board meetings at the AALL annual meeting.
- Prepares the agenda for and presides over the incoming board meeting.
- Attends the AALL SIS Leadership Workshop and the SIS Council business meeting.
- In consultation with the Chair, is responsible for the TS-SIS column Spectrum.
- Prepares to take over as Chair.
Annual Survey.
This individual:
- Prepares and distributes the annual membership survey, and compiles survey responses in time to share them with the board by mid-membership year (January or February).
- Forwards to committee chairs the names of survey respondents interested in joining their committees.
- Notes other potential volunteers, and program and workshop ideas, from annual survey responses.
- Notifies the chair of the TS-SIS Nominating Committee of any survey respondents who express an interest in running for elected office in TS-SIS.
Appointments.
This individual:
- Appoints new standing committee chairs as the terms of the outgoing chairs near completion, in consultation with the outgoing chairs. New chairs of the Acquisitions Committee and the Preservation Committee are appointed in even-numbered years, and new chairs of the Cataloging &p Classification Committee and the Serials Committee are appointed in odd-numbered years. Appointments should be made before the annual meeting.
- Appoints at least two members to the Education Committee, after consulting with the Executive Board, by January 1.
- Appoints one new member each year, before the annual meeting, to represent TS-SIS on the TSLL Editorial Board, for a two-year term.
- Appoints one new member each year, before the annual meeting, to represent TS-SIS on the Joint Research Grant Committee, for a two-year term.
