Unique among the Special Interest Sections in its mission, Social Responsibilities acts as a stimulus to
AALL members by focusing attention on and serving as a forum for discussion of critical
social issues that affect us both as members of our profession and of the human family.
The programs that our SIS proposes each year for inclusion in the Annual Meeting raise
the consciousness of members about subjects such as intellectual freedom, prisoners' rights,
discrimination against minorities and capital punishment. Comprising librarians from
academic, private, and government institutions,
the Social Responsibilities SIS serves as a meeting place for a diverse group
of colleagues who share a common interest in the well-being of society. More ...
