PLL BUSINESS MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 7:45 a.m.

Secretary’s Report
Elizabeth LeDoux asked to have minutes from the 2002 PLL Business Meeting approved. A Motion was made, seconded and approved. Election results were announced. 1474 ballots were mailed out, 533 valid ballots were returned. New officers were introduced.
Treasurer’s Report
“We have money,” Janeen reported.
PR Toolkit Report
Michael Saint-Onge reported he has four teams in place to develop the toolkit.
BNA sponsored the breakfast. We thanked them and had a warm welcome from Paul Wojcich.
ALA Liaison Report
Holly Riccio reported that she attended the Association of Legal Administrators conference in San Diego where she gave out the new PR brochure and PR materials. She thanked the SANDALL volunteers.
Next year we are hoping to present a program or do training in the exhibit hall at the 2004 ALA Conference in Philadelphia.
Grants Committee
Randy Thompson, Mary Mahoney and Virginia Smith did a great job this year. They awarded seven travel grants:

The committee has moved the grant deadline to early April from early May, making it easier to arrange travel for the July conference. Next year the committee will look at to whom and how grants are given. Global Securities Information Inc. gave us a $10,000 grant to use for future years, for which we are very grateful.
Newsletter Report
Jan Brown is always looking for authors.
PR Committee
Lucy Curci-Gonzalez & Sue Johnson were the Co-Chairs of this Committee. They completed several projects this year:
“Law Librarians are Lifesavers” floating key chains created for the ALA meeting.
Lifesavers candies with AALL logo and web site.
Law Library Standards were put into a brochure and given to the legal administrators.
Records Committee
Lee Nemchek had a very busy year.
Programming was created for AALL and ARMA conferences.
She published Legal Records Management Practice and Procedures and PLL Multitasking Directory, which is in an
electronic version at Washburn.
Networking – Legal records management listserv moved to aallnet.org.
Strategic Plan
Martha Goldman reports she is working on it and will solicit comments.
President
Janeeen recognized Betty Roeske for 7 years of service to the Technical Services Group. She reported that PLL has committed $5,000 over five years to the George Strait Minority Scholarship fund.
There was no new business.
Janeen was presented with a gift by Holly Riccio for her service as PLL Chair this year.
