 PLL/SIS Education Committee

DESCRIPTION

There are two Education Committees operating at any given time - one for each of the two upcoming AALL annual meetings.

The purpose of the Committee is to provide educational programs, speakers, seminars and classes useful to the membership. It is responsible for the suggestions of education programs sponsored by the PLL/SIS, including those at the annual meeting, to the Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect. All programming is geared to accomplish the following:

  • Amplify or focus on substantive areas of law or library science.
  • Provide a forum for discussion of techniques, skills, and problems in the workplace.
  • Offer opportunities to discuss new techniques and/or developments in librarianship and information science.
  • Provide general interest programs that are not directly related to law libraries, such as financial planning, stress management, etc.

Each Committee shall consist of at least 3-5 members, all of whom serve two year terms. The newest Committee shall be selected by September 1 by the PLL/SIS Chair. As programs and faculty are considered, the Committee shall consult with Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect as the liaison with the PLL/SIS Executive Committee. Both Committees may solicit program ideas from the general membership annually.

The majority of this Committee's work is done during the following months/periods:

July
August to October
