 PLL/SIS Consumer Advocacy Committee (CAPLL)

DESCRIPTION

CAPLL is the PLL/SIS committee on Consumer Advocacy for Private Law Librarians, an initiative started in 1997 as a result of the PLL Strategic Plan. Its main goals are to encourage private law librarians to be active, aware, and effective consumers, and to offer suggestions and plans of action to accomplish these goals.

From time to time, CAPLL members may send out "advisories" designed to share critical information that may save time in busy schedules. These advisories may alert customers to filing instruction errors, exorbitant price increases, or results of phone calls to customer service departments. CAPLL members have also been involved in submitting consumer based suggestions for improvements to legal publishers' procedures and actions.

Product comparisons, designed to aid librarians in making acquisition decisions, will be published on the PLL web page as they are completed. More substantial articles discussing acquisition tools or how to be a more effective consumer have been published in PLL Perspectives.
