Carter and Cordon Win 2004 ALL-SIS Outstanding Article Awards


Nancy Carol Carter, Director & Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law & Research Center, and Matthew C. Cordon, Reference Librarian and Associate Professor of Law at Baylor University Law Library in Waco, Texas, were selected as recipients of the 2004 Academic Law Libraries SIS (ALL-SIS) Outstanding Article Award. The award presentation occurred at the ALL-SIS reception, Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at the Harvard Law Library.

The awards recognize section members for contributions to the enhancement of academic law librarianship through publishing. The winning articles were judged on the quality of writing, effectiveness of communication technique, and relevance to law librarianship.

Display of winning articles by Nancy Carter and Matt Cordon. Professor Carter's winning article, The Special Case of Alaska: Native Law and Research, was published in 22 Legal Reference Services Quarterly 11 (no. 4, 2003). Professor Cordon won for Beyond Mere Competency: Advanced Legal Research in a Practice-Oriented Curriculum, published at 55 Baylor Law Review 1 (2003).

 

The 2004 ALL-SIS Awards committee consisted of Pamela Deemer (Emory University), Sally Holterhoff (Valparaiso University), and James E. Duggan, Chair (Southern Illinois University).
