The Government Documents Special Interest Section will be offering the following Grants during the 2016/2017 term. Download and complete the application form for the grant to which you would like to apply and email it to pbehles@ubalt.edu:

AALL Management Institute Travel Grant

March 30 - April 1, 2017
Chicago, Illinois

The AALL Management Institute is a two day workshop where participants build management skills while also collaborating with colleagues.

The Government Documents SIS is offering members a grant of $775 to cover the cost of registration. Deadline for applications is January 8, 2017.

The requirements for members who receive this grant include:

  1. Grant recipient must be a member in good standing of the GD-SIS
  2. Grant recipient will write a newsletter article for JURISDOCS
  3. Grant applicants should explain their need for the grant in their grant application

AALL Annual Meeting Travel Grant

July 15-18, 2017
Austin, Texas

The GD-SIS will award two travel grants to members to attend the 2017 AALL Annual Conference in Austin, Texas for the amount of $1250 each. The deadline for applications is April 9, 2017.

The requirements for members who receive this grant include:

  1. Grant recipient must be a member in good standing of the GD-SIS.
  2. Grant recipient must not have received a previous GD-SIS grant within three years of applying.
  3. Grant recipient will write a newsletter article for JURISDOCS
  4. Grant recipient will attend the GD-SIS Breakfast/Business Meeting
  5. Grant recipient will attend at least one GD-SIS-sponsored program
  6. Grant applicants should explain their need for the grant in their grant application

Veronica Maclay Travel Grant

Veronica Maclay was a librarian at California Hastings College of Law for 27 years before passing away in October of 2000. She held several titles and had different responsibilities but remained the law library's federal documents coordinator throughout her career. She served chairperson of the Government Documents SIS in 1993-1994 and was a strong advocate for access to government information.

The Veronica Maclay Grant is awarded yearly to a library student who wishes to specialize in government documents. It is given in the amount of $1,000 and may be used toward any travel-related expense that the student might incure from a professional or educational activity.

The requirements for students who receive the Veronica Maclay grant include:

  1. Grant recipient must be a student enrolled in a library or information sciences program.
  2. Grant applicant must demonstrate an interest in government documents in his or her grant application.
  3. Grant recipient must not have received a previous GD-SIS grant within three years of applying.
  4. Grant recipient will write a newsletter article for JURISDOCS

DLC Meeting and FDL Conference Travel Grant

October 17-19, 2016
Arlington, Virginia.

Each year the GD-SIS offers two grants to its members to attend the DLC Meeting and FDL Conference. The Government Publishing office hosts this conference in every fall in the Washington DC area. This conference includes educational programing from the Federal Depository community, federal agency representatives, the Depository Library Council, and the GPO.

GD-SIS members, or their documents support staff with a recommendation letter from a member, are eligible.

The requirements for members who receive this grants include:

  1. Grant recipient must be a member in good standing of the GD-SIS.
  2. Grant recipient must not have received a previous GD-SIS grant within three years of applying.
  3. Grant recipient will write a newsletter article for JURISDOCS.
