2003 National Legal Research Teach-In Training Resource Kits Available

Interested in how other law librarians teach legal research? Order the 2003 National Legal Research Teach-In Training Resource Kits.

This resource kits contain a variety of instructional materials developed by law librarians, including pathfinders, research guides, posters, lesson plans, lecture notes and research exercises. Many of the items in this year’s kits are Web-based or slide presentations that have been successfully used by law librarians. Some of the highlights from the 2003 resource kit include:

  • Building Essential Legal Research Skills, a slide presentation by Coral Henning and Mareth Wilson
  • Introduction to Oakland County Law Library, a slide presentation by Elizabeth Lindley and Dianne Zyskowski
  • Online Exercises and Learning Modules, Web tutorials by Peter A. Hook and Keith A. Buckley
  • Password access to selected tutorials on legal research from the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Research
  • Guide to U.S. Government Information, a Web guide by Cecily A.H. Giardina
  • Solving Legal Research Problems, a Web tutorial by Paul D. Callister
  • Using Lexis & Westlaw at Dickstein, submitted by Joseph Meringolo
  • Assessing Vendor Issues, Internet Resources and Training Objectives, by Doris Nuding
  • Several entertaining legal research games submitted by Susan M. Boland, Ann Hemmens, Peggy Jarrett, Nancy McMurrer, Cheryl Nyberg and Mary Whisner, including a game show-type slide presentation by Kelly Browne

The Teach-In Resource Kit is the centerpiece of the National Legal Research Teach-In, an annual campaign that allows law librarians to share materials and ideas for legal research instruction. Each year the Research and Instruction Patron Services Special Interest Section Teach-In Committee solicits contributions from the law library community to create a compilation of materials for use in developing and advertising educational programs and events for law libraries. These materials are distributed several weeks prior to National Library Week in April to anyone interested in legal research instruction.
