Renee D. Chapman Award

For Immediate Release
March 4, 2004

The TS-SIS Awards Committee seeks nominations for the Renee D. Chapman Memorial Award. This award recognizes outstanding contributions in technical services law librarianship and will be presented in Boston at AALL’s 2004 Annual Meeting.

The award is presented to an individual or group in recognition of achievement in an area of technical services, for service to the Association, or for outstanding contributions to the professional literature. Factors considered in selecting recipients include the publishing, presenting, or sharing of innovative techniques or research, analysis, or commentary; the development of software, hardware, or other mechanisms that significantly enhance access to collections; and the contribution of service to the Technical Services SIS as a whole. Achievements may be in the areas of acquisitions, cataloging, and classification; materials processing; preservation; automation; or technical services administration.

All members of AALL are invited to submit names for consideration. Nominations should include the candidate’s full name, title, and current firm, company, or institution name and address. If the candidate is retired, the name and last place of work and home address should be submitted. The letter of nomination should be signed by someone other than the individual being nominated and should accompany a list of projects, programs, or publications of the candidate. The letter should describe the candidate’s work with respect to his or her qualifications for the award.

Nominations should be submitted by March 1, 2004 to Chris Long, Catalog Librarian, Ruth Lilly Law Library, Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, 530 W. New York St., Indianapolis, IN 46202 (clong@iupui.edu).
