PURPOSE: The purpose of the AALL Spectrum Editorial Board is to help develop, solicit, and curate the content of AALL Spectrum.
CHARGE: The AALL Spectrum Editorial Board shall serve as a group of advisors to the AALL Spectrum editorial director to help shape content for the magazine. The editorial board will assist in creating the annual editorial calendar based on the professional needs of AALL members and will solicit, review, and select content to fulfill those needs. The goal is to develop, identify, and publish information about current and emerging trends and practices in the profession that will support AALL members in their work as legal information professionals.
Content for the magazine will relate to six content areas, which reinforce AALL’s Strategic Directions and overall education program. The content areas include:
- Education and Research
- Business Skills
- AALL Member News
TIME COMMITMENT: Members of the AALL Spectrum Editorial Board should allot two to four hours per month to meet via conference call, to research topics and/or authors, and to reach out to authors. Additional time may be required when planning the annual editorial calendar.
MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS: Members of the AALL Spectrum Editorial Board should have a strong professional network, expertise in one or more of the content areas, and be comfortable reaching out to potential authors for content. Experience in writing, editing, and publication production is also considered.
TENURE: Membership on the AALL Spectrum Editorial Board shall be for one year from the time of appointment; appointments are renewable.
SIZE: The AALL Spectrum Editorial Board shall normally consist of a chair, six members, staff liaison, and the editorial director.
