TYPE: Special Committee

CHARGE: The committee will develop the AALL Body of Knowledge, which will clearly define core content areas of expertise, and the related competencies and skill sets needed for essential and advanced abilities in law librarianship. The Body of Knowledge will serve as a blueprint for developing core professional development opportunities for legal information professionals.

Domains: Core content areas of expertise for legal information professionals.

Competencies: Specific to each domain and defining the key knowledge areas required for competence in each domain.

Skills: The ability to appropriately practice the competency through actions identified as essential or advanced, demonstrating the knowledge and experience required.

TIME COMMITMENT: The committee will meet by conference call as necessary to complete its work, and make its report and recommendations to the Executive Board for consideration at the July 2017 Executive Board meeting.

TENURE:  Membership on the committee will be until the committee completes its charge.

SIZE: The committee shall consist of a chair, seven members and a non-voting Executive Board and staff liaison.
