Law Library Insights is a four-part series of resource guides that educates court administrators at state, court, and county law libraries about the value law librarians bring to their organizations. Written by the AALL State, Court & County Law Libraries Special Interest Section, these eight-page guides are available as a subscription series or by individual copy.

Guide #1, How to Hire a State, Court or County Law Librarian (2002)
Whether you're thinking about hiring your first law librarian or considering ways to restructure the duties, this guide explains how law librarians help court or government agencies manage and maximize legal information. It reviews the roles and responsibilities of a state, court, or county law librarian, including research and reference services, management tasks, and training and instruction. The guide assesses when a court agency should hire a law librarian, the academic and professional qualifications of competent law librarians, and appropriate salaries and benefits.

Guide #2, The Value of a Public Law Library (2004)
Examine the benefits of public law libraries, how public law libraries can raise awareness, and innovative programs for sharing resources and consortium-building.

Guide #3, Management Essentials in the Public Law Library (2008)
This guide discusses key management principles for the public law library. Although all law libraries are different, many principles—such as budget, resource management, and community relations—must be addressed by all public law libraries. This guide explores five core principles of management via insightful articles from the State, Court, and County Law Libraries Special Interest Section membership: budget/financial planning and negotiation; working with the board; community relations; service development and collection rebalancing; and managing resources.

Guide #4, Self-Represented Litigants (2013)
