The 2002 Local Advisory Committee joins Governor Bush, Orange County Chairman Crotty, and Orlando Mayor Hood in welcoming you to our great State.  There is so much to see and do in Orlando.  We hope you will find time to explore our City and surrounding areas, and experience all that Central Florida has to offer – natural beauty, recreational activities, cultural events, unique shopping and world-class dining.  Do something a bit out of the ordinary like feeding a live alligator, or taking an airboat ride – or simply relax!  After all, that's what life in Florida is all about – taking it easy!

If you are traveling to Orlando with children, plan to attend the Family Social Hour & Carnival, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, July 20^th.  Orlando is one of the world's most popular vacation destinations for families and children of all ages.  Our Family Carnival will set the stage for your visit, and provide you with valuable information on what to see and do in Central Florida.

Shop 'til you drop in Orlando – a virtual shopper's paradise of factory outlet centers, discount superstores, upscale boutiques, antique shops, luxury department and specialty stores.  Bargain hunters rejoice!  Orlando is a mecca of factory and designer outlet centers, offering upscale merchandise for the value-minded shopper.  Orlando is also famous for its "theme-based" shopping venues, such as Pointe*Orlando and the Mercado Mediterranean Village, both located within walking distance from the Convention Center and Conference hotels.  Use the economical I-RIDE Trolley, with regular stops at most local malls and outlet centers.  For those who want to combine their shopping, dining, and entertainment in one location, don't miss Downtown Disney and Universal Studios CityWalk. Each unique complex offers acres of restaurants, specialty shops, nightclubs, theaters and live entertainment.

Orlando is home to a multitude of quality restaurants, offering exceptional "guest oriented" service.  Your choices are unlimited  – from the world's largest McDonalds to upscale 5-star dining, and everything in between.  Or try one of our celebrity restaurants and cafes, such as Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at CityWalk, Planet Hollywood, Emeril's Restaurant, and Wolfgang Puck's Grand Café.  Miami Dolphins football fans will enjoy Dan Marinos' Town Tavern at Pointe*Orlando, and Shula's Steak House at Disney's Swan & Dolphin Hotel.  Give your taste buds a treat, and experience some of the best seafood and ethnic cuisine in Florida.
