Progressive and entrpreneurial law firm located in West Los Angeles is looking to fill their Library Technical Service position. Ideal Law Librarian candidate will be responsible to perform various duties pertaining to library services.

Description:

• Supervise professional and paraprofessional staff who conduct catalog maintenance, acquisition, serials and circulation activities
  
• Will administer the Integrated Library System and oversee conversion activities
  
• Train librarians to work effectively with local ILS
  
• Develop cataloging policies and revise existing local practices

Law Librarian Requirements:

• Must be able to organize and direct acquisitions, serials, and cataloging, circulation and collection development
  
• Maintain the library online card catalog (OPAC) and coordinate its developments with other library managers
  
• Train librarians to work effectively with local ILS
  
• Evaluates existing collection for cost saving measures
  
• Supervise claims processing for missing and replacement items, and cancellations
  
• Supervise the library’s firm, standing and subscription orders
  
• Track acquisition expenditures and develops statistical and analytical records
  
• Reports and assists in library budget requests
  
• Classify and catalog the collection in all formats-print and electronic and all levels-original and copy cataloging
  
• Participates in special projects directed by director of libraries
  
• Assist in reference desk duties

Qualified Librarian Candidates must have the following:

• MLIS from an accredited institution
  
• 3-5 years of professional and supervisory experiences in a law library
  
• working knowledge of AACR2r and Library of Congress subject heading and classification schedule
  
• working knowledge of professional law librarianship concepts principles and practices
  
• Librarian must be a consensus builder and ability to work with a diverse team of professional and paraprofessional librarians;
  
• Librarian must possess flexibility that is required in a dynamic and fast pace environment ; ability to work coherently with other library managers and as part of management team
  
• Prefer candidates to have familiarity with Horizon (SirsiDynix) and Liberty4 (SoftLink) ; familiarity with web development tools and scripts
