Under the supervision of the Deputy Director:
Manages the evaluation, acquisition, licensing, cataloging, maintenance, training and promotion of electronic and serial resources. Collaborates with the library and law school staff in various team-based efforts. Coordinates
electronic resource acquisition with other Stanford campus libraries for optimal resource sharing.
Provides guidance to help facilitate the research efforts of law school staff, including program Fellows and Research Fellows (RFs). Supports Law School faculty, staff and students performing empirical and statistical research.
Provides SLS community with assistance on statistical analyses and data manipulation, helps researchers find and use data sources, and offers guidance using statistical software programs, such as Stata, SAS, SPSS, etc. This
librarian will provide in-class training.
Consults with students, faculty, staff and librarians to develop a useful continuing resources collection. Serves as an adviser and trainer for law school faculty, staff, and students in acquiring or developing online resources.
Collaborates with various library and law school staff to develop Web-based projects for the library and the school.
Supervises a staff of two regular, full-time library employees, who are responsible for serials control processes. Works with serials staff and other library staff to ensure delivery of requested materials in a timely fashion.
Staff the loan desk upon an occasional as-needed basis.
Required:
- MLIS or other advanced degree.
- Ph.D or Master’s level degree in Math, Computer Science, Statistics or Social/Behavioral Science or J.D. from an A.B.A. accredited law school or equivalent non-U.S. law degree.
- One to three years library experience in e-resources management and some combination of cataloging, reference, research instruction or acquisitions.
- One to three years experience in the application of quantitative methods to social science and/or legal data.
- Knowledge of/or strong interest in learning statistical software, such as SPSS, Stata and SAS.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, faculty, law school and library staff.
- Previous experience supervising and leading staff. Experience in a lead role on a project.
- The successful candidate must be friendly and energetic and consistently deliver service with a smile.
Preferred:
Experience working in an academic library. One to three years experience with or demonstrated knowledge of Drupal, HTML, and other web design tools. Some programming skills a plus.
