
| Reference Librarian; University of San Francisco School of Law; San Francisco The University of San Francisco School of Law invites applications for the position of Reference Librarian at the Dorraine Zief Law Library. The USF Dorraine Zief Law Library supports the research needs of the students, faculty, and alumni of the law school, as well as members of the State Bar of California. Located in the center of San Francisco, the USF campus is bordered by some of San Francisco's most exciting, diverse, and vibrant neighborhoods, including the Haight-Ashbury, NoPa, Cole Valley, and the Inner Richmond. Golden Gate Park, with its world-renowned museums and gardens, is also just a few blocks from the law school. Downtown San Francisco is 20 minutes from the USF campus on public transit. Position Description: The Reference Librarian will participate in the law library's extensive teaching programs, which will include both guest lectures and semester-long teaching assignments in law librarian-taught courses, including Advanced Legal Research and California Legal Research. The Reference Librarian will participate in the reference desk rotation approximately 10-15 hours per week, which includes one evening rotation per week but currently does not include weekend shifts. The Reference Librarian will hire, train, and supervise the law library's growing pool of law student research assistants, who furnish research support to the law school's faculty. As the library's student research assistant program expands, the Reference Librarian will market and promote this research service to the law school's faculty and will assume responsibility for developing policies and procedures for the program. The Reference Librarian will also serve as the chief library liaison for the law school's clinics, advocacy programs, and externship programs and will network with faculty working within these programs to promote the library's services. He or she will also serve as a library liaison to assigned tenure-track faculty, supporting their scholarship and promoting library resources to them, and will assume other duties as assigned by the Law Library Director. This position will report directly to the Law Library Director. Librarians are encouraged to participate in the American Association of Law Libraries and other law library and professional organizations.
The successful candidate must have:
