Law Library Director, Alameda County Law Library, Oakland

The Alameda County Law Library Board of Trustees is seeking a dynamic Law Library Director.

Responsibilities:
The Director reports directly to and serves at the pleasure of the Law Library Board of Trustees, composed of five judges and two attorneys. The Library is one of the largest county law libraries in California. The Director leads a staff of 15 FTE members and oversees an operations budget of $1,734,000. The Library is a progressive, service-oriented institution with the main library in downtown Oakland in a beautifully renovated historic building and the branch library in Hayward

Required:
Any combination of the following may provide the required knowledge to successfully perform the job duties: M.L.S. from an ALA accredited institution, strong leadership and team management skills, accounting courses with budgeting experience, law library management experience, J.D. degree, and/or Masters in Public Administration.

Preferred:
Leadership skills including critical thinking; commitment to serving diverse customers; communication, negotiation, and management skills; understanding of employment law, personnel management, technology and on-line research; and commitment to the profession of law librarianship.

Salary and Benefits:
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The liberal benefits package includes the CalPERS retirement system.
