Docket/Calendar Specialist; Nossaman LLP; Los Angeles
Nossaman LLP has an immediate opening in its Los Angeles office for an experienced Docket/Calendar Specialist to work as part of the Risk Management team in the Firm’s Research and Information
Services Department. This is a challenging and evolving position that provides an interesting mix of duties and responsibilities, along with the chance to work with a dynamic group of professionals
from each of our major offices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides first-level support for the Firm’s automated docket and calendar system, including routine data entry and daily maintenance;
- Under the supervision of the Library Risk Manager, determines docket dates from court documents and correspondence and enters data into the docket/calendar system;
- Responds to inquiries from attorneys and staff regarding litigation deadlines, court scheduling rules and related docket and calendar issues;
- Supports Firm librarians by assisting with interlibrary loan arrangements, retrieving documents, and re-shelving, processing and routing library materials;
- Provides troubleshooting and support to legal staff regarding the docket/calendar process and policies;
- Assists the Library Risk Manager with the dissemination and implementation of docket/calendar policies and procedures and ongoing maintenance of the docket section of the Firm’s
intranet;
- Produces reports and summaries about specific issues upon request; and
- Provides backup support to the Conflicts Specialist when needed by conducting first-level conflicts checking and first-level matter maintenance.
Qualifications
Candidates must be responsible and reliable with strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people of varying skills, responsibilities and
backgrounds. Attention to detail is a must, along with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize, meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team. Additional requirements
include:
- Minimum of 1-3 years related legal experience in docket/calendaring required;
- Paralegal, conflicts checking and/or additional library experience preferred;
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred;
- Detailed knowledge of applicable California and federal court rules required;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required, together with solid experience with Compulaw’s Vision Docketing/Calendar software and a basic working knowledge of
CMS/Aderant time and accounting system both required; and
- Ability to identify problems and concerns independently, communicate them to appropriate individuals and resolve them, with support of others, as needed.
