AALL Spectrum News from Colorado

The Colorado Association of Law Libraries was pleased to offer two free professional development opportunities to all interested area librarians (law and non-law) on Saturday, February 26. More than 20 librarians attended the two programs.

The first, hosted by Lexis-Nexis, was the two hour program "Strategic Planning and Marketing Your Services to Your Institutions."

The second, hosted by Thomson University (West Group), was the 4 hour workshop "Managing Your Priorities."

Both programs were held at the University of Denver College of Law, Lowell Thomas Law Building, in Denver.

The Colleague Connection is an annual collaborative program of the five local library organizations (CoALL, CLA [Colorado Library Association], CEMA [Colorado Educational Media Association], SLA [Special Libraries Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter], and CCML [Colorado Council of Medical Librarians]). This year's program, "WEB TECHNOLOGIES IN LIBRARIES," was sponsored by the University of Denver's Library and Information Services Program. The program was held on March 1, 2000 at the University of Denver's Driscoll Center. The four panelists (Lynne Fox, Outreach Librarian at Denison Library; Jamie LaRue, Director, Arapahoe Library District; Sam Sortore, Instructional Technology Specialist, Douglas County Schools; and Dan Maas, Director of Technology, South Central BOCES) delivered informative and practical information on the subject.

Nine CoALL libraries agreed to host library science student tours. An article introducing CoALL and listing the libraries that volunteered to give the 1-2 hour tours was submitted to the University of Denver's library school newsletter. Information about the tours will be also be distributed to the Emporia (Kansas) State College library science program. CoALL will also provide copies of the AALL marketing brochure "Finding the Way," which promotes law librarianship as a career.
