Hello, my name is Susen M. (Gurwitz) Davidson. I play a dual role of Assistant Librarian not only for the Law Offices of Otten, Johnson, Robinson, Neff & Ragonetti, but also for the U.S. Bank Tower Law Library (formerly known as the Colorado National Bank Building) which OJRNR operates.
I received my Associates degree from Bay Path College (Longmeadow), my Bachelor's degree in education and psychology from American International College (Springfield) and my Paralegal Certificate from the Elms College (Chicopee). All of these colleges are located in beautiful Western Massachusetts where I am from originally.
I moved to Denver a couple of years ago after marrying my husband who is a Denver native. We have a cat named "Topaz." Colorado is a most beautiful state especially for the nature and animal lover that I am. The mountains are magnificent. Since moving to Denver I have also been to Wyoming and Nevada.
My career background consists of twenty years experience working mostly in law libraries, but I have also worked in the public library system as well as the academic. Some of the positions I held before joining Otten Johnson a year and a half ago were: Circulation Supervisor, Catalog Assistant and Library Manager for a small firm of fifteen attorneys. When I worked at Western New England College School of Law Library, I was very much involved in the growth process of two campuses. After we received full accreditation, we moved once again into a brand new state of the art facility. In fact, since I moved to Denver, I have been re-united with 4 old friends from WNECLS who also moved out here from the east coast.
My interest in radio broadcasting and news became a hobby for me for almost nine years. I was approached by the Dean to help set up a radio station on campus. During my tenure at Western New England College School of Law, I was "on-the-air" several times a week. I aimed my show towards the law school community--"My Legal Eagles." I always played some tunes with legal terms and phrases in them and did features on the progress of the law school, etc. "Lawyers, Guns, & Money" by Warren Zevon was a popular and requested tune. I would tell "law jokes" and read interesting articles or pieces about law/lawyers that I found to be humorous. I figured the law students needed a break from all their hard labors.
I have volunteered for the Scuttle as I enjoyed writing a newsletter at the law firm (back home) and I contributed to the law school's newspaper from time to time. I also wote biographies about new members and existing staff in a column entitled "Susen's Spotlight."
I look forward to contributing biographies of new members for the Scuttle and I am looking forward to meeting all of you and especially in welcoming all newcomers, like myself to Colorado.
