President's Desk: St. Louis
The Centennial Meeting of AALL promises to be most exciting. I would like to highlight a few unique events this year:
President's Program: A View from France
Sunday, July 9, 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
America's Center-Room 274
In this intellectually stimulating panel, Judge Roger Errera, French Conseil d'Etat (retired); Jean Gasnault, Director of Library, Gide Loyrette Nouel, Paris; Anny Maximin, Conservateur en chef, Cujas Library, Paris; and Benedicte Baudot, Knowledge Management Europe, Shearman and Sterling, will discuss the role of the judge in Europe and trends and ideas that are transforming the French legal information landscape and, in turn, influencing practices in the United States and the rest of the world.
Centennial Variety Show
Tuesday, July 11, 9-10:30 PM
Renaissance Grand-Landmark 4-7
"Which famous comedy singing duo, like AALL, first got its act together in the great state of Rhode Island?" Come to the Centennial Variety Show and find out! It is free and you don't need an invitation! Ten fabulous musical acts and comedy sketches, showcasing the talents of geographically diverse law librarians employed in a variety of settings, will perform at the cabaret-style event. The show, graciously supported by William S. Hein & Co., Inc., will be held fashionably late, from 9 to 10:30 p.m., on July 11 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel St. Louis. A cash bar will be available (not that it will be necessary to enjoy the show). Between performances, The Centennial Variety Show Band, under the able leadership of the Show's Musical Director Bennie Braxton, of Sughrue Mion in Washington, D.C., will play for your entertainment pleasure. Who knows, there may even be an encore planned. For more information, visit the Variety Show website.
See you soon!
